Can I just say props to Lil Nas X for playing every role as himself so he would be the only one to get backlash from all of the angry Christians? It also creates a really interesting narrative too about his struggle with himself and coming to terms with his sexuality, something that a lot of lgbt+ religious people often go through. Often times you're not scared what other people will think of you but you are more scared of yourself and how you judge yourself because of the beliefs and views that you grew up with. For some people it's letting go of this idea of sin or saying "well, if I go to hell for being gay, I don't want to be in heaven anyways." It's also partially why I'm not religious, if I can't be loved and accepted as myself and how I was made and if I'm "rejected" by heaven for being gay, trans, liking pokemon, eating meat, ect. it's not worth it. I'll just be who I wanna be in the life I have now. 🤷♂️
